YOUR LITTLE BATH COMPANION
Let’s take it one paw at a time.
STEP 01 / SET THE SCENE
A calm start is a good start.
Gather your kit, brush gently, and choose a quiet moment. Place a non-slip mat in the sink or tub.
If your cat becomes distressed, stop and ask a vet or groomer for help.
One fresh little loaf.
You did it. Time for a cozy spot and a well-earned treat.
SET YOURSELF UP FOR SUCCESS
The little things, ready to go.
Tick off your kit as you gather it. Future you says thanks.
A FRIENDLY REMINDER
Sometimes, the best
bath is no bath.
Most cats do a fine job grooming themselves. Save shampoo for when they actually need a little help.
Read ASPCA’s cat-care guide ↗Does my cat really need shampoo?+
For everyday grooming, brushing may be enough. A dirty or sticky coat may need washing.
What goes in the bath?+
Use lukewarm water and shampoo labeled for cats. Follow its label; keep it away from eyes and ears. Rinse thoroughly.
What if my cat says “absolutely not”?+
Stop if your cat is distressed. Ask a vet or professional groomer rather than forcing a bath.
What about skin problems or spills?+
Ask your vet about irritated skin or medicated products. For chemical spills, contact a vet promptly before washing.
